John Douglas (Doug) Grenard, 93, died Saturday 11:15 p.m. at the home of his niece, Mrs. Bertha Johnson in Waynetown where he had resided for the past six years.  Mr. Grenard was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County.  He was a stockholder in the Attica stockyards and also a stockholder in the Wingate State Bank.  He was born Sept 19 (10?) 1858 in Coal Creek township between Wingate and Waynetown the son of Simeon and Abigail Rusk Grenard. On Feb 14, 1885 he married Lulu May Hancock at the home of WM Biddle, near Waynetown. Mrs. Grenard died April 17, 1942.  Mr. Grenard was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and had served as senior deacon for 20 years. Survivors include one brother, David R. Grenard of near Elmdale, and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Roy Blacker of Wingate; Mrs. Bertha Johnson, OL Osborn, Mrs. John Swank and Emit Grenard all of Waynetown; Mrs. Homer Goff, RFD Crawfordsville; Lloyd Grenard of Indianapolis; Mrs. Harold Gordon of Perrysville; Mrs. Morris Wiseman and Wallace Hart both of Centralia, Ill; Miss Marie Hart of St. Louis, Mo; Millard Hart of Champaign, Ill; Mrs. Roy Demoret of Lafayette; Charles Pottet and Mrs. Edna Laing both of Tipton, Oklahoma. Preceding him in death, in death in addition to the widow were a daughter, Mrs. Byron Montgomery and one granddaughter, Mary Frances Montgomery. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Waynetown Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey S. Burns in charge. The body will remain at the Grenard & Servies Funeral Home until time for service. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kz
